Types of fabrics and woven fabrics

There are many types of fabrics, and it is difficult to understand the characteristics and differences of each fabric.

Here, I would like to explain the types of fabrics and woven fabrics.

  • Ikat

Ikat is a Kasuri woven fabric, and the original language is Malay, which means "Kukuru, Shibaru".

(1) In a narrow sense, Indonesian and Malaysian Kasuri textiles and their technology. It refers to a weaving technique that is calculated in advance so that the resist-dyed parts form an orderly pattern after weaving the white warp and weft threads together according to the color scheme of the pattern.
(2) In a broad sense, it is used as a universal term that refers to Kasuri textiles in general. Currently, the main production areas of Kasuri textiles are world-famous such as India, Indonesia, and Japan.

  • Imitation fur

Imitation fur is a pile fabric or knit that resembles natural fur, and fabrics include beaver cloth, astrakhan cloth, polar bear, and brush. Also called faux fur. Faux fur is the most familiar way to say it.

  • Indian head

Indian head is a cotton fabric with a rough texture and a rough texture like hemp. Both the warp and weft threads are thicker than the 20th thread, especially the 14th thread.
High-quality yarn is used even for thick counts, and the density is a slightly thick plain woven fabric with a total weft of about 100 threads per inch. However, due to the refreshingness of cotton, it is used as summer clothing by exposing it and dyeing it plain. Indian Head is a trademark, and the trademark right is owned by Indian Head of the United States. It is used for summer women's clothing, children's clothing, curtains, table cloths, jackets, sports shirts, etc.

  • Indian madras

Indian Madras is a cotton fabric with stripes or a checkered pattern on gold cloth, which is the birthplace of the Madras region of India. Colored threads with different hues are combined into thin stripes, thick stripes, or plaid stripes, but the color is characterized by low lightness and saturation and dullness.
It is a woven fabric with a high tissue density of 140 to 180 total wefts per inch using single yarns with a warp of 30 to 40. It is used for sports shirts, blouses, and dresses, and there are more checkered patterns than stripes.

  • Indian chintz

Indian chintz is an Indian chintz, which was originally dyed in kanakin and should be called a color pattern rather than a woven fabric.
A dyed pattern that looks like the entire fabric is beautiful with a pattern, or the rest of the pattern is dyed with the ground color and the entire fabric is filled with color without any gaps. Generally, there are flowers and birds, stylized figures, geometric patterns, etc., and the colors are dull and dark, but recently, bright colors such as flower patterns are increasing.
Chintz is made in various parts of the world with patterns that take advantage of the characteristics of each land, but Javanese chintz, Indian chintz, and China chintz are famous.
Chintz is generally most often used on the futon side. However, it is also used as a women's clothing material, and recently, due to the upgrade of the fabric, the number of chintz such as poplin and satin is increasing.

  • Indian silk

Indian silk is a silk fabric produced in India. The warp threads are plain weave with almost the same density, and are characterized by being thin, soft and elegantly glossy. Some of them use wild silkworm thread, which is a specialty of India, and are often used for sari.
